29/04 - Under 16`s Presidents Cup Final
Tiverton Town 2 v 1 Broadclyst

Luke Robinson & Dave Hambly lead the young yellows out to their first Final of the season at Exeter City's St James` Park. The Tivvy team knew that Broadclyst would offer a real tough game and so it would be. The two team sparred for the first 10 minutes with no real threat from either side. Then a contentious free kick was awarded to Broadclyst out on the left wing. The free kick was whipped in to the Tivvy area where a Broadclyst player flicked the ball on and past the helpless Luke Phillips in Goal. The game was a bit of a stale mate up until half time with neither sides midfield being able to get hold of the game.
Tivvy made a substitution at half time and it seemed to change the game a bit with the Yellows taking more control of the game. Finally the good work paid off and a great ball through to Luke Hayfield saw him break through. Hayfield didn't need an invitation and shot low and hard under the keeper to give Tivvy a deserved goal. The game carried on with a lot of long balls from either side and the match looked certain to go to extra time. However the young yellows had different ideas and an exquisite through ball put James Macmartin on goal. Macmartin coolly slid his 28th goal of the season home to give Tivvy the lead. Suddenly the game sprung to life as Broadclyst searched for the equaliser, however it was all to late and the ref blew for full time.
A great display by the young Tiverton side, in particular the defensive duo of Henry Pinkrah and Niall Martin caught the eye. Club Manager Martyn Rogers and club directors were on hand to congratulate the boys on bringing the third bit of silverware back to Ladysmead this season.
08/10 - Under 16`s cruise to fourth consecutive win
Colyton 0 v 17 Tiverton Town
After a disappointing performance against Axminster last week we travelled to bottom of the league Colyton. A couple of changes were made to the starting line up from the previous week. Lames Macmartin, Reece Daniels, Dan Greening & Tom Webb coming in for Kirsten Parkhouse, Sam Kemp, Jamie Cook and the injured Henry Pinkrah. This game was an ideal opportunity for these lads to show myself and Dave that they want their name on the starting eleven every week. We started well against a Colyton side who were apparently playing an age group above themselves. We got the ball down and played some nice attractive football, getting the ball wide for the wingers to cause the defenders all sorts of trouble. Soon the goals were flooding in, notably Tom Webb scoring from 25 yards. By half time the game was all but over with us racing in to a 6 v 0 lead.
The second half was all about not letting our opponents get going, keep playing our game and get as many goals as we can to boost our goal difference. The lads done this even stepping up a gear and notching another eleven goals in the half.
Even though Colyton were a weak side it was pleasing to get a good result and win by so many. Man of the match from a very good team performance went to Elliott Frear

01/10 - Under 16`s win away
Axminster Town 1 v 2 Tiverton Town
There are many words I could use to describe our performance today. None we could be able to print. So lets just say it was disappointing. After a superb result the week before against Broadclyst we made a couple of changes.
Luke Phillips, Jon Lacey, Elliot Frear, Elliot Cook, Henry Pinkrah, Niall Martin, Sam Kemp, Francis Henderson, Luke Hayfield, Kirsten Parkhouse, Damien Connery
With the weather wet and the wind howling we knew this was going to be a hard game against a physical Axminster team. But with the ability the team possess I was confident we could cope, how wrong I was! We just never got going with only Henry Pinkrah, Niall Martin and Francis Henderson doing credit for themselves. I felt too many of us were hiding out there waiting for someone else to produce the goods. We were not playing to our potential and were sucked into playing a physical long ball game. Kirsten Parkhouse did net a goal just before half time which gave us a sigh of relief. After a few chosen words by myself and Dave we hoped the lads would respond. Again we didn't got going only at times and very rarely when we showed what we get the ball down and play. With a few wasted chances we could and should of killed the game off. Instead Axminster equalised. To be fair Axminster battled and never gave up and we will expect that from all the teams we play. Axminster were physically stronger than us, winning most of the tackles and headers. With minutes to go we dug ourselves out of a hole. Tom Webb delivering a pin point cross from a corner and Francis Henderson sending a firm header in to the bottom hand corner. When credit is deserved I will let them know, but when there not up for a tough battle like on Sunday that’s not good enough regardless of the opposition. Hopefully this will be our last performance like this.

23/09 - Under 16`s Hard earned win
Tiverton Town 2 v 1 Broadclyst
After last weeks comfortable win against Lyme Regis this was the first real test for the team. Broadclyst are well known in the area to be a tough team to beat and with this we had to be on top of our performance to get anything out of this game. A couple of changes were made for this game with goalkeeper Luke Phillips and striker James Macmartin coming in for Sam Kemp and Kirsten Parkhouse respectively
Luke Phillips, Gary Cross, Elliott Frear, Elliot Crook, Henry Pinkrah, Niall Martin, Francis Henderson, Luke Hayfield, Tom Webb, Lee Radford, James Macmartin
In my opinion we started very slowly, just going through the motions and with this we were made to pay. Broadclyst going ahead with a well taken goal which they deserved. We then gradually got going with both Lee Radford and James Macmartin going close. But before that we were nearly dealt another blow but thanks to goalie Luke Phillips making a magnificent save from a Broadclyst free kick. With 25 minutes gone we were getting the ball down and playing some nice football we got an equaliser. Tom Webb collected the ball off Elliot Frear who chipped an inch perfect ball over the Broadclyst defence for Lee “Raggy” Radford to nip in and lob the ball over the advancing keeper. With this goal came a bit of confidence to our game which we lacked before and we went on the search for another goal. With half time coming up something truly special came, with the ball being ping ponged around the box and the Broadclyst defence failing to clear in came Lee Radford from the edge of the right hand box to crash a thunderbolt in to the top right hand corner, what a strike. With half time just a couple of minutes away James Macmartin was forced off with a reoccurring foot injury letting Damien Connery of Dawlish to make his Tivvy debut. Another change at halftime was Reece Daniels coming on to also make his debut for the injured Gary Cross. I thought after a slow start to the first half we got back in to the game and deservingly went in to the break with a lead. Second half was a battle and we matched them from start to finish, but at times riding our luck. The defence was water tight with Henry Pinkrah being a rock at the back and Luke Phillips pulling off some superb saves. Midfield was battling away and didn’t let them settle. I felt our midfield showed Broadclyst too much respect in the first half and wasn’t closing them down quick enough allowing them to dictate the tempo. Lee Radford was outstanding throughout the game running his legs in to the ground terrorising the Broadclyst defence from start to finish. This half was a back against the wall job which at the end of the day we succeeded even though we were lucky at times. An excellent performance by the lads and with this I hope we go from strength to Strength – WELL DONE Man of the match Lee Radford.
17/09 - Under 16`s cruise to victory
Tiverton Town 12 v 0 Lyme Regis
After the previous weeks postponement against Hemyock we were raring to go when this game came up. With 5 players unavailable to play (due to registration with the league) I had to make some changes to my planned starting eleven. With a bit of a slow start we got going eventually to set the pace and dictate the tempo. Our passing and movement was crisp and sharp. We were playing the ball around so well that there really was only one side in it. Luke Hayfield got the scoring going but was forced to go off shortly afterwards with a groin injury. By halftime the score was 4 v 0 with Gary Cross and Tom Webb netting for Tivvy. We controlled the first half from start to finish playing some good attractive football. The only disappointment was I felt we could of taken more of our chances. In the second half the lads kept going and playing the same passing football throughout even when the goals started flooding in. It could have been easy for the players to start showboating and take they’re eye off the game. This they did not do which was pleasing as I don’t want bad habits like that creeping in to our game. Kirsten Parkhouse and Lee Radford started to take the chances they had squandered in the first half. Both ending up with four goals each, however with more composure it could have been more. The final score was 12 v 0 and was a good display by the lads even though it was a bit of a one sided affair. Going in to the Broadclyst match next week ( Broadclyst being “the team to beat”) I was looking forward to a tougher test at Ladysmead.
Goal Scorers - Parkhouse (4), Radford (4), Cross (2), Hayfield, Webb
