Tivvy U16's 4 v 1 Braunton
Tiverton Under 16s have had some convincing wins to put them back on top of the North Devon Opticop Youth League. They beat South Molton 6 v 1, Woolsery 4 v 1 and the most important game of all was today against current league title holders and cup winners Braunton, which was played at Ladysmead in front of a decent home crowd. Tivvy went 2 v 0 up in the first half with two superb strikes from Shane Heal and David Hood. Braunton came out in the second half full of determination and desire and clawed a goal back from a great header to make it 2 v 1. Tivvy kept their composure and the defence were solid with Jon Bailey, Lloyd Raybold, Sam Raywood, Michael Bradley and Man of the Match Joe Wren all working well together. Tivvy went 3 v 1 up with a great finish from Josh Martin. Braunton in fairness kept battling but Tivvy were in control in the midfield with Jordan Taylor, Liam Curtis, Jordan Hewitt, Jack Pullman, Chris Hawkins and Pete Eveleigh giving 100 percent throughout the game. Joel Foster was on form in goal and looked confident. Josh Dryhurst caused Braunton a few problems in the back with his speed. Pete Eveleigh got the final goal which won the game 4 v 1. The whole team deserved the win the combined effort was outstanding. We have one game left to play which is this Tuesday the 29th at Ladysmead ko 7.30pm. A win would guarantee Tiverton the League Title and Jed Hewitt (Manager) and Ryan German (Coach) would appreciate your support.

4th November 2007 Devon County Cup 2nd Round
SB Frankfort 0 v 1 Tivvy U16's
Tiverton travelled to Plympton for round two of the Devon County cup. Over thirty teams battled it out all over Devon to go through to the next round. Tiverton Town worked hard throughout the game to score against a lively Plymouth side. Tiverton scored after twenty minuets but missed a few chances throughout the game. SB Frankfort were not prepared to roll over without a fight and the game got physical at times with both teams set on winning. The pitch was short and narrow which made it difficult to play good passing football. Tiverton were the most dominant team but Frankfort defended well. Joe Moore the Tivvy goalie made some outstanding saves to keep us in the game. Josh Dryhurst scored Tivvys goal and had a great game. The Tivvy defence was solid with Raybold, Skinner and Wren working well together. Liam Curtis, Jordan Hewitt, Michael Bradley, John Bailey and Chris Hawkins all contributed well during the game. Shane Heale worked hard up front along side Josh Dryhurst and was unlucky nit to add his name to the score sheet .It was a good all round team performance well done.
21st October 2007 North Devon League Cup
Blues & Appledore 1 v 2 Tivvy U16's
It was a thrilling game from the start with both teams determined to qualify for the semi finals.
Tiverton Town Youth scored first with a well earned goal from Shane Heale. Tivvy played some great passing football in the first twenty five minuets but eased off the pressure and nearly paid the price by letting Bideford Blues play football. They were gaining confidence although Tivvy defence were not buckling. Bideford were awarded a penalty which they scored and the game was even again. It was 1 /1 and we were into extra time. Both teams gave 100 per cent in extra time and the pressure was on for win. Tiverton passed forward with a wave of attacks but Bideford defended well again and again. Bideford broke free a few times and Tivvy were caught on the run but defended well. Both teams were so determined the atmosphere was electric but finally Tivvy kept pushing forward and got the goal they deserved to win the game 2/1 from a great pass from Shane Heale to Josh Dryhurst who had the goalie beat. Well done to both teams it was a great game to watch.

7th October 2007 North Devon League
Tivvy U16's 5 v 1 Torrington
What a difference a week makes !!!! Following the debacle of a game of last week against Torridgeside the under 16s entertained their nearest rivals of Torrington today at Ladysmead. This team came to play football and the game was played in good spirit with little or no malicious play with full and total commitment from both sides.
After a lively start with Torrington holding their own against this strong Tivvy under 16s side they finally succumbed to the yellows constant pressure in the 23rd minute when a good pass from defence from Jon Bailey to Liam Curtis ended with a pinpoint cross from Liam onto Josh Dryhurst’s head and straight into the net leaving the keeper with no chance at all. Up until this moment the Torrington keeper had saved them on a good few occasions and kept Torrington in the game. A period of sustained pressure form the yellows and a string of corners were all coped with stoutly by Torrington’s game defence frustrating Tivvy. Tivvy had everything in control at the back and Torrington did not look like scoring in the first half. Despite all Tivvy`s pressure they went in at half time still 1-0.
Tivvy came out for the second half and after a mixed start they scored in the 50th minute when Jon Bailey nodded the ball in at the far post from an accurate free kick from Lloyd Raybold after Shane Heale had been fouled on the edge of the box. Tivvy started to sparkle and the 3rd goal a few minutes later was a cracker when Liam Curtis received the ball just outside the box dribbled round 3 Torrington defenders and slotted it home brilliantly. An excellent goal. Quickly after this 3rd goal Torrington charged up field catching Tivvy cold and Harry Taffs slotted it home from close in leaving goalie Joel Foster little chance. Woken up by the goal Tivvy returned the favour by quickly getting back up to the Torrington goal area and Pete Eveleigh had a simple task of scoring from close range..4-1 Tivvy.
Relentless pressure ensued bringing a series of good saves from the Torrington keeper but they eventually wore him down and Jack Pullman picked up a pass on the 6 yard line and quickly popped it in the net. 5-1 Tivvy.Gutsy Torrington battled on but Tivvy are a fit squad and outstayed them but there were a few tired legs out there at the end of this enjoyable game.
This Tiverton U16s are a proper team with excellent team spirit and have skilled players in all departments from goalies, defenders, midfielders and attackers...
Come and see for yourself.
30th September 2007 League
Torridgeside 0 v 2 Tivvy U16's
Tiverton record there fourth straight league win and remain top on the North Devon league after a 2-0 win away at Torridgeside in a match full of controversy. With 5 players ruled out through injury and a pitch, which in all fairness was a small, sloping, uncut field. awful!! it was never going to be the same outcome as to when the two teams met 11 days earlier when they were outclassed in every department by Tiverton in the North Devon cup 8-0.
It took time for the Tivvy team to settle to the conditions, but after a while got the ball down and made the opposition work. Chances were created with John Bailey having a header cleared off the line. A big blow came just before half time when joint top goal scorer David Hood had to come off with a badly swollen ankle.
Chances were still being carved out but with blatant incorrect decisions from the opposition linesman and an incompetent referee things were made very difficult for Tivvy. Shane Heale and Lloyd Raybould did have the ball in the oppositions net on separate occasions, but according to the linesman were in offside positions. With frustrations building Tivvy nearly took there eye off the game and if it wasn't for an extremely good save by keeper Joe Moore, they would of, for the first time this season find themselves trailing 1-0. With 15 mins to go Tiverton got what they deserved with a penalty, after scoring, the ref decided there was an encroachment and the penalty had to be retaken which was then saved by the Torridgesides keepers outstretched foot. With time running out a through ball was played to Shane Heale who with calmness smashed the ball into Torridgeside net to the delight of the Tiverton team. With minutes to go Tivvy were denied a stone cold penalty (to which the Torridgeside's manager couldn't believe it wasn't given) when Heale was upended in the box after beating 3 men. Josh Dryhurst made it 2-0 at the death when Heale broke away from his marker, beat another defender and unselfishly squared the ball the Dryhurst who was left the finish from yards out.
Luke says:
It will be a shame this game will probably be remembered for the poor standard of refereeing than the good team spirit and determination Tivvy showed to get through this game.
Thank you to all the parents who travelled up to support the team, you are all much appreciated, the more the better.
Hope there is no damage to Dave Hoods ankle and it is just bad bruising. Next home game 7th October 12pm k/o Ladysmead.
23rd September 2007 League
Tivvy U16's 5 v 1 Woolsery
By David Bailey
The under 16s continued there good form with a well deserved 5-1 win over Woolsery in what were sometimes tricky conditions,
The opening few minutes were pretty even as Woolsery defended well and were dangerous on the break but Tiverton opened the scoring in the 14th minute with a good move that saw David Hood slot the ball through to Shane Heale who took it well and scored. The favour was returned in the 17th minute when Shane’s pass through to David left him in a 1 to1 situation and the keeper had no chance with the shot resulting in goal number 2.
Woolsery were again under pressure for quite a while and two or three half chances went astray but Tivvy were rewarded for their efforts in the 37th minute when a sharp cross from David Hood and a stream of Tivvy players descending on it forced a Woolsery defender to put into his own net.
3-0 at half time was a satisfactory score line especially with the heavy rain clouds gathering over head.
The teams came out for the second half in pouring rain and conditions underfoot had become quite slippery, The game plodded along during this bad weather with no side getting on top. Woolsery again defended well during this spell but a string of passes ended up with the ball at Shane Heale’s feet and a simple tap in made it 4-0 . Another good team effort saw Shane round the keeper and slot it home for 5-0 and securing his hatrick.
At the other end the back three were very strong ( Captain-Lloyd Raybold, Jon Bailey and Mike Bradley) had covered all of Woolserys attacks. They are beginning to look quite a formidable defence and have a good understanding with each other.
All this said they could not stop Woolsery scoring in the last minute from a free kick just outside the box that was struck by Nick Glover into the bottom right hand corner giving them a consolation goal.
The match ended 5-1 to Tiverton and their unbeaten run in the league continues and they are top of the North Devon under 16s league and justifiably so.
