29th March Devon Girls League Cup

Westexe 2 v 1 Tivvy U13s GIRLS

Tiverton today travelled to Barton fields home of Westexe where after beating them at home 5 - 1 felt that 3 points was a must to get us back into the top 3. In glorious sunshine Westexe dominated much of the first half by playing a route 1 ball making it difficult for the mid field of Leah Burridge, Courtney Butt and Megan Brine to get any real chance of producing what they do best. Eventually having a couple of half attempts at goal only saw their standing goal keeper parry the ball away to safety. They were very quick on the break where before you knew it it was 4 versus the back 2 of Mollie Fawell and Kerry Broom who had no chance of protecting Katie Harris in goal to shoot and score. Five minutes later losing the ball in mid field led to Westexe second goal where Harris had no chance. Harriot Taylor worked hard up front on her own with some good corners and great passing involving all players around her. Tivvy were still coming to grips with headering the ball as on numerous occasions we lose possession in their box due to not headering the ball.

Second half started much better with a change of formation and Brine dropping into the back with Fawell pushing Broom back onto the left hand side where she felt more comfortable. The girls had to react to any shots from Tivvy due to their keeper not holding a single ball all game and Butt struck the ball from 20 yards at goal only for Burridge to side foot into the Westexe goal making it 2 - 1 with 10 minutes to go. With the loss of Taylor up front, Krystal Norris found herself up front where the size of the 2 defenders was a mix match. Brine was pushed up front to leave Fawell to deal with any through balls from Westexe.

The game ended 2 -1 to Westexe on a day when the girls have played better.

Player of the game was picked by Mike Courtneys step dad which was awarded to Courtney Butt

Goal scorer: Leah Burridge

22nd March Devon Girls League Cup

LFC Sparta 5 v 4 Tivvy U13s GIRLS

After an early start meeting at 9 am to travel to Newton Abbott in glorious Devonshire sunshine 3 points was much needed to stay within the top 3.

After winning the toss Leah Burridge decided to play downhill on a rough looking pitch that had seen better days, finding ourselves with good possession for the first quarter of the first half, when Harriot Taylor swept round a solid back three to drive a low strike into the back of the net. Meantime at the other end goalkeeper Katie Harris pulled off an excellent double save this encouraged some of the girls to start believing that they really could get something out of this difficult tie. On 13 mins Taylor once again had plenty to prove as she ran through one on one with the keeper and slipping the ball into the side netting. A strong run up our right hand side from their no. 4 wasn't closed down by the keeper to finish a superb strike, Sparta were coming on strong into the last 5 mins of the first half with Leah Burridge and Courtney Butt working well together in the midfield. Debutante Kerry Broom was enjoying her first run out in yellow with her pace and strength out wide.

4 mins into the second half, Harris fumbled only to allow Sparta to put the the ball into an empty goal. Tivvy made one change up front Rosie Williams for Taylor who again worked her socks off. Sparta came back stronger then ever making things hard for the back two of Tivvy with Molly Fawell and Megan Brine both having a good game and even communicating with one another. 7 mins into second half there no .9 who attacked down the right for much of the game was really getting involved more only to squeeze the ball passed Harris. 10 mins saw Tivvys best football when superb link up play from Fawell to Broom to Burridge all being one touch play to eventually picked up on the edge of the box for Burridge to strike with immense power to smash into the back of the Sparta goal . 17 mins saw brilliant Butt attack the right side to get a shot on goal to rifle off the post onto a defender into the opposing goal. Tivvy made another change Krystal Norris on for the hard working Broom to take a natural position on the left hand side. A mix up between midfield and defence left a Sparta player unmarked at the back post to knock down into the goal. With only seconds remaining at 4 - 4 both teams were settling for a point but one last attempt saw Sparta shoot for Harris to miscarry only to be put into the back of the net by the Sparta player.

Girl of the Match was chosen by Sparta Manager went to Molly Fawell

Good Team performance but very unlucky.

1st March Devon Girls League Cup

Pinhoe Spartans 2 v 0 Tivvy U13s GIRLS

A very diffcult semi-final 2nd leg away from home on a pitch that was not even close to being ready for a game of football on it, full of pot holes no grass but plenty of grass seed, with a full squad available there were a few changes with Harris in goal, Blake and Fawell in defence, Burridge, Butt and Taylor in the midfield and Jeffrey playing up-front.

Tivvy again saw much of the ball but it came down to being composed in front of goal which we are lacking, but the positive side of things is that what we do in training is showing on the pitch with some great passing then moving into space wanting the ball back again, with Blakes long goal kicks and set pieces pushing there mid-field back i thought it would soon be back on level terms.

We came off the pitch at the interval on top of the game with fine displays from all, but we just needed a bit of luck in-front of goal, made only one change second half introducing Brine for Taylor who was struggling with asthma Brine made immediate impact as she found Butt wide right to cross a cracking ball that just went wide of the goal within seconds Brine had a chance where there keeper pulled off a great save from a venomous half volley from 25 yards out only to get a corner. Burridge was her usual self by supplying balls from the centre midfield out wide and splaying the ball making a Pinhoe side work very hard all game, on a tired pitch legs were looking tired from both sides. 20 mins into second half we all lost our heads due to a earlier offense which affected all the girls and we let one slip through but we never gave up heads were high and fighting for that equalising goal, Norris and Williams came on to freshen up things but then we lost shape a conceded another, Blake pushed up front for Jeffrey who worked very hard all game she had her first sniff at goal but the goalie was sharp enough to put out for a corner. Partridge went upfront as well now chasing the game needing goals which we were under threat at the back when sometimes Fawell dealt with 2 strikers.

Well done all the girls today under the circumstances thanks for the parental support as well.

Best to luck to Jaymie Blake and family who are leaving us due to moving away you've done us proud thanks again you will be missed.:

1st February Devon Girls League

Tivvy U13s GIRLS 6 v 7 Ottery Firegirls

On a freezing sunday morning we entertained Ottery Firegirls who are bottom of the league , the last time we met was the first game of the season and came out on top 3-2 winners.

We had to start as we finished last week with an amazing performance all-round , but it wasn't to be as Ottery broke through a cold looking defence after about 5 mins , the game was mostly played in our half struggling to link - up with each other and make a simple pass , in fairness to the girls Ottery had the strong wind behind them for the first half which a couple of simple balls direct from there keeper down the middle and Tivvy not dealing with a simple clearance put one of the 2 strikers through on goal to score. Before we could sort our poor shape we had to try and get the girls heads up as 1 or 2 were dropping , to find that there number 15 was starting to find lots more space where she was at her best running at our midfield , we had to start to make tackles count but it wasn't to be, she was far to strong for our side. Eventually we managed to break the Ottery midfield and attack there defence for the first time and score, Ottery kept coming to release there striker who slotted a nice finish into the side netting. With the kick off we made 6 passes only to find the ball in the back of Ottery's net with a fine strike, by half time we were 5 - 3 down and it was in our favour this half as we had the wind behind us .

Several changes had to be made as the Tivvy girls were freezing 2 defenders and a attacker made the change and things started to work with some direct kicking from the home keeper to put a through ball into the path of Tivvy player to slam pass a good keeper who was having a great game. With the withdraw of there number 15 this aloud us to get within 1 goal of them but still struggling to get the passing right, with approx 15 mins remaining it was stale mate with Tivvy finding the net once again , six all would of been a fair result as we played far below the standard of which the girls can play at there were to many tired legs on the pitch with the cold front not helping matters we shut off for a second and found the ball being pumped forward again to make it 7 goals to 6. On a day with a cold wind , the girls gave a reasonable display with 1 or 2 maybe listening to there elders. Fair play to Ottery , they kept at us with the determination to get there first win in the league , but felt that we gave them to much room to play and we were punished today.

Keep those heads up girls :-)

A couple of thank you's to all those parents who stuck behind the team in cold conditions and thanks to referee for doing it on short notice , and last of all we would like to thank Debbie Murch's dad for taking some quality photo's today.

Girl of the game chosen by Leigh Blake went to Leah Burridge.

Goals came from Burridge (2),Blake, Butt, Taylor, and Williams.

25th January 2009 Devon Girls League CUP Semi Final 1st Leg

Tivvy U13s GIRLS 0 v 1 Pinhoe Spartans

On a day when most games were cancelled Tivvy managed to get there Cup - Semi final 1st leg played. Taking into consideration that the girls had not played since November they put up an excellent display through the whole of the game with a visiting side who have only lost one game so far and are top of the Girl's Football League.

The game started in our favour having lots of the ball in their half, the passing was superb today as everyone was wanting the ball and trying to get an early goal. After having numerous attempts at goal nothing came of this, the marking had to be crucial today as Pinhoe are a difficult team to mark and breakdown with some great movement through the channels which at times we found difficult to defend against . Both teams had numerous chances but felt Tivvy should have come in at half - time at least 2 goals up, but it was stale mate at the interval 0 - 0 .

Second - half kicked off much the same as before plenty of possesion but nothing at the end of it. Pinhoe made a break down the left side only to find a player that was not marked for the first time, only to put it in the back of the goal. With only minutes left on the clock it was a matter of pushing bodies forward to try and grab an equalising goal, which a couple of quick thinking shots that just went wide of the posts. We return for the second leg on the 1 March where I believe the girls could turn the second leg around and hopefully get to their first final, which would be a great achievement as it is the girls first season together.

Well done to all the girls as I think they all tried really hard in the difficult conditions and didnt deserve to lose.

The Player of the Match goes to: All of the Girls for their effort and work rate

(Captain) Burridge, Harris, Fawell, Brine, Blake, Butt, Williams, Taylor, Partridge, Norris and debutant Rowan Jeffery.

30th November 2008 Devon Girls League

Tivvy U13s GIRLS 5 v 2 West Exe

Tiverton girls entertained West Exe F.C another newly formed team this season which are full of Exeter City Girls, so this was going to be a tough encounter.

After losing a couple of players on the morning with sickness we were down to the bare bones with only having one sub. We started very strong with having lots of possesion of the ball, only to find ourselves 1-0 down after 10 mins with that ball over the top again. Tivvy restarted with immediate affect, passing some great balls across the field spreading play using the full width of the pitch to there advantage where Jaymie Blake received the ball from Courtney Butt and struck the ball from just outside the box to find the back of the net. With West Exe back on top of the game they soon scored another just on the half time. Some quick thinking from goal keeper Katie Harris rolled the ball to Megan Brine who then passed to Leah Burridge who made an individual run going past three players and struck the ball into the goal.

Second half and it was all Tivvy where defensively we were very strong. A second goal for Burridge with some great passing from Mollie Fawell who defended excellent today. To the inform Blake and Butt connecting with one another making it difficult for any midfield to deal with.West Exe were getting tired due to Tivvy's great passing and work rate on and off the ball, Krystal Norris made it difficult for there defence as she never stopped running and working hard throughout the game. Blake also scored her second with a great run up the wing to unleash a unstoppable shot into the top corner. With Norris coming off to allow Emma Coles a go upfront within seconds she should have got herself on the score sheet after rattling the post with a venimous shot. Butt rounded the day off with a goal which she deserved as she never stopped running taking on players and with some great tackling.

Again it was a great team performance from all players having been told from one parent that "it was the best he had seen them play and they have come on so far as a team this season ".

Burridge (2) Blake (2) Butt (1)

Girl Of The Match Courtney Butt

16th November 2008 Devon Girls League

Brixham Villa 6 v Tivvy U13s GIRLS

Tiverton travelled to Brixham an early start for the girls and parents when we should still be in our beds, the earlier fixture at home was a close one winning 4 - 3, so we were expecting goals and there was plenty of them.

A 15 goal bonanza saw Courtney Butt get her debut hat-trick with some outstanding individual runs and clinical finishing. Leah Burridge got herself on the score sheet again with 5 goals running at the defence and making it difficult for the Brixham defence to pick her up. Harriot Taylor notched another important single goal for the team. Well done to the Katie Harris (the cat) with top class saves all game acting as a third defender for the team she was awarded girl of the match by Courtney Butt's mum.

After a shaky start in defence from Molly Fawell and Megan Brine they soon sorted themselves out only to make very few mistakes for the rest of the game. Jaymie Blake played a holding roll in midfield doing a fine job, putting the ball through the channels for Burridge and Butt and also making great tackles. Rosie Williams did not make a single mistake all game on a out of position left hand side of midfield always working hard. Krystal Norris came on as a sub upfront where she made a nuisance of herself making life difficult for the Brixham defence again. A great team effort. Well done to all.

Fair play to Brixham they never gave up fighting right up to the final whistle, an excellent game for the referee who was excellent today.

Many thanks to those parents who travelled so far today to support the girls and the Brines for the hot dogs !!

Girl Of The Match: Katie Harris

19th October 2008 League

Tivvy U13s GIRLS 4 v 3 Brixham Villa

A great hat trick from Jaymie Blake and a single from Leah Burridge gave Tivvy all three points on a day where Managaer Stuart Burridge felt his side should win.

Tivvy looked the stronger side for much of the game, where the passing play was at its best. Katie Harris was exceptional in between the sticks making some very good saves. The change in the line up meant that Megan Brine joined forces with the hard tackling Mollie Fawell in defense, in which Brine looked more comfortable.A couple of early slight errors gave Brixham the lead which Harris had no chance of saving. Blake soon equalised in a solo effort where she picked the ball up deep in her own half to run passed 4 players and slide the ball into the back of the net.As soon as Brixham kicked off we were under plenty of pressure from an attacking front 3, where a shot had been saved only to find that the referee gave a goal. The girls kept on going piling on the pressure using the width of Rosie Williams bursting up and down the wing.

Leah Burridge rattled the cross bar twice in a matter of minutes with 2 driving free kicks where the keeper was well beaten on both occasions. Brixham was struggling to get out of their own half for much of the second half. Burridge eventually found the back of the net from open play with a great team effort which started from the quick thinking Harris, to release the ball to Krystal Norris who found Burridge in acres of space only to beat the keeper.

Through hard work Harriot Taylor made nuisance of herself and was very strong up front on top of tha ball most of the time. Taylor made way for Abbie Partridge up front where she was straight into the mix of things making lots of runs beyond the defense of Brixham. Blake soon got her second of the game after she hit the post twice with a one two from Burridge which she then struck first time into the roof of the net. With only minutes to go Blake got Tivvy all 3 points with a superb hat trick of which every player had a touch on the ball before slotting past the Brixham keeper again.

Well done to all the girls as several of you played in different positions and kept working hard throughout the game.

Player of the match was Jaymie Blake, chosen by Rosie Williams mum & dad.

12th October 2008 League

Tivvy U13s GIRLS 3 v 7 Exmouth Amateurs

Tivvy started very well putting on a lot of pressure on the defence of Exmouth, only for Exmouth to break up the right wing with a fizzing shot across goal for keeper Harris had no chance of saving, From the restart tivvy were comfortable on the ball passing well from Harris through to the defence of Fawell and Williams. Getting Burridge on the ball as much as poss trying to make things happen, A debut for blake saw a strong attacking play which led to our first goal from Taylor who slotted the ball into the side netting. Brine was winning many tackles in a holding roll in front of the back two.

Exmouth played the route one game which did not suit the girls as found it difficult to clear at the back cutting out the heart of our midfield, This seemed to work for Exmouth as they were a bit stronger then us at times, Tivvy went in half time 3 - 1 down but kept there heads up. Coles came on at half time in defence with good play all round feeding it into the channels.

Second half started with tivvy losing possession early letting the ball slip threw and into the back of the net, Burridge had a one two with Blake with a clinical finish. Williams was making good breaks down the wing trying her hardest to find a player in the box, Norris came on for Williams as a straight swap on the left, Manager Stuart burridge felt it was only time before we got our second goal with excellent play from Harris to Fawell which then released Burridge who was not closed down with a forward run to strike at goal and score. Partridge came on up front with a couple of early chances on to be put out for a corner.

Blake also found the net on her debut with a excellent link up play from defense, Tivvy never gave up going down 7 - 3 at full time.

Player of the match went to Jaymie Blake for scoring on her debut and great attacking play.

Well done to all the girls as you never gave up.

Goalscorers Harriot Taylor,Leah Burridge and Jaymie Blake.

28th September 2008 League

Tivvy U13s GIRLS 1 v 3 Pinhoe Spartans

Tivvy U13 girls played host to Pinhoe Spartans in an entertaining game in which the visitors went away with the spoils.

Right from the kick off Pinhoe pushed Tivvy back, but fortunately the shots went wide, or Katie Harris was on hand to save. This spurred Tivvy into action with some good play through all areas of the midfield, Rosie Williams pushing on the wing and Leah Burridge attacking through the middle. It was from one of these attacks on the right that Tivvy got a corner, unfortunately, when the ball was played in, it landed to a Pinhoe player who ran the length of the pitch to score past an unlucky Katie Harris. Tivvy pushed for an equaliser, Emma Coles and Mollie Fawell began to get into the game more, with good challenges. Abbie Partridge went close to scoring but for the keeper, Leah Burridge tried long shots and again the keeper was on hand. Pinhoe almost double the score line but for a great save by Katie Harris who parried a long range shot then caught it under pressure.

Second half began with Tivvy again pushing for an equaliser, Megan Brine and Krystal Norris working hard on the wing and forward, again from an attacking throw in, Pinhoe broke free down the wing, Katie Harris came out and was unfortunate to see the ball hit the net.The game went from end to end, with both sides going close to scoring, it was when Megan Brine moved from forward to midfield and Abbie Partridge moved forward that Tivvy scored, Leah Burridge moved over to the right, crossed for Megan Brine who passed the ball into the corner of the net. Tivvy had 4 mins to try and get an equaliser and pushed on, Rosie Williams making good runs again along with Krystal Norris, again from an attacking position Tivvy lost the ball only to see a Pinhoe player run from the half way line to score past Katie Harris.

The final score 3-1.

Katie Harris was awarded the Player of the game, for outstanding performance in goal.

21st September 2008 League

Tivvy U13s GIRLS 1 v 5 LFC Sparta

LFC started very strong, but Leah Burridge forced to keep them out, before Tiverton almost caught them on a break. Leah had the opening opportunity slamming the ball into the goalkeeper. Sparta started to get into the game putting in great passing, but Tiverton defence held strong, with a great effort from Emma Coles and Katie Harris in goal. Very brave goalkeeping kept out a goal and LFC piled on pressure, but ball came out and was pumped back in to make 1 - 0, but the goal just looked like a pass. Tiverton made a change bringing on Harriot Taylor on the wing with great attacking effect. Just before the end of the first half a big loss to the game Harriot Taylor had to go off because of asthma.

First half ended Tiverton looked more comfortable as they were only 1 - 0 down.

Second half LFC looking strong keeping Tiverton pend in own half for the opening moments. Tiverton were using the width of the pitch consisting of Rosie Williams and Krystal Norris to great effect but werent holding out strong enough. 2 - 0 after a very busy period from midfield consisting of Leah Burridge and Megan Brine, saw a Sparta player have a venimous shot 20 yards out, Tiverton goalkeeper Katie Harris had no chance in saving it. 3 - 0 unfortunate very lucky bounce that went over keeper, but Megan Brine and Emma Coles tried very hard to keep the ball out of goal. 4 - 0 another 25 yard strike from the Sparta defender from open play with Mollie Fawell trying her hardest to clear it but she had no chance of stopping it, by this time Tiverton lost shape. 5 - 0 after poor defending from Tiverton allowing easy opportunity. 5 - 1 Tiverton pulled a goal back after a well finished piece of play leaving Abbie Partridge up front to score her first goal.

Tiverton played and battled well during the game, but manager Stuart Burridge said the girls gave it their all, well done to them all.

Man Of the Match was Leah Burridge for outstanding work rate.

Thanks to Colin Nation for referring the game on such short notice and many thanks to Chris Holland for all his hard work.

14th September 2008 League

Ottery Fire Girls 2 v 3 Tivvy U13s GIRLS

Tiverton Town girls u13’s played there first game of the season away to Ottery Fire Girls and came home 3 – 2 victors. To make this result more impressive was that this was the first game that the girls played together.

Tivvy girls played up the slope in the first half and from the kick off showed what they were capable of with some good passing football. Ottery went the closest to opening the scoring, but for a fine save by Katie Harris, this spurred Tivvy on with some good attacking runs on the wings from Rosie Williams and Krystal Norris. It was Tivvy who scored first in the 13th min through Leah Burridge. Harriot Taylor made a good off the ball move by moving out wide which took 2 defenders with her, this enabled Leah Burridge to run through the middle, to drive a shot pass the keeper. Ottery pushed for an equaliser, but with a defence of Emma Coles and Mollie Fawell, nothing seemed to get pass, and when Ottery did Katie Harris was on hand. With Ottery pushing forward this left them open to counter attacks, Abbie Partridge came close but for the Ottery goal keeper. On the final attack of the half Ottery scored an equaliser, a strong shot from outside the box, Katie did get a hand to the ball but could not keep it out.

The second half was again end to end football, Tivvy girls began to get on top, going close to scoring through Harriot Taylor, Abbie Partridge and Krystal Norris. Again Rosie Williams doing some good runs down the wing, not only attacking but defending. Mollie Fawell and Emma Coles began to dominate at the back. Leah Burridge hit the target again in the 56th min with a well struck shot to the side of the keeper. This seemed to encourage more from Ottery who in the last 10mins began to get more of the ball and with 5 mins left they scored from a throw in, in which the Ottery player, hit the ball high towards goal, Katie Harris miss judged the ball and found it bounce into the net. Straight from the kick off, Tivvy went on the attack, pushing Ottery back into there own half. It was a move down the right in which Tivvy scored, Mollie Fawell played it to Rosie Williams who crossed and Leah Burridge finished with a well struck shot along the ground passed the keeper. With only 2 mins remaining Tivvy held out for a good win.

The player of the match went to Mollie Fawell for her hard work in defence.
