Twyford Spartans 0 v 7 Tiverton U13 Girls - Devon Girls League - May 2010
Tivvys last game of the season was away to Twyford. After a couple of good results for Twyford in the past week Tiverton found it difficult to break down a good defence of Twyford. Eventually Leah Burridge shot from 25 yards to find the ball go past the Twyford keeper. Seconds later Paige Longworth-Wakeham found herself on the score sheet with some superb team passing to side foot past the keeper. The always attacking Courtney Butt scored just before the half when she caused nothing but problems for Twyford with her clever feet and close ball control where she managed to go past 3 players and then eventually putting the ball into the back of the net to make it 3-0.
Second half Tiverton were buzzing when Karin Underwood through a short ball to Hollie (Rocky) Stone who then hit a 45 yard diagonal ball straight to Chloe Williams feet where her first touch was subline to make it 4-0. Half way through the second half assistant coach Angela Wakeham, was urging the girls to keep ball and make it difficult for Twyford. Butt got her second of the evening where again she managed to weave through a couple of players and by staying out wide then cutting inside to smash into the back of the net to make it 5-0.
Williams got her second of the game where there was some excellent 2 touch passing from Burridge to allow Williams to power herself through the big defence to mae it 6-0. Billie Denny had a superb first half just lacking that goal. Eventually she got her goal through Grace Melluish working down the left hand side and putting many balls across the box with her weaker foot for Denny to get a return ball from the edge of the box to find herself wide open and able to have a free shot on goal which ended the game 7-0. Again Stone was superb in defence along with Underwood in goal.
Again it was too difficult to pick a girl of the match as they work so hard as a team and they all deserve it. A big thank you to Angela and all the parents for their support this season.
Manager Stuart Burridge believes the squad are now ready for 11 a side next season where hopefully they can continue the hard work put in at training and on match days.
