Okehampton 3 v 5 Tiverton Town U9 Whites - Exeter Youth League - March 2010

This was always going to be a tough away fixture against an improving okey side. Tivvy got stuck in from the start and immediately caused problems for okey at the back. Midway through the first half tivvy took the lead with a determined run from Joe Greenslade, squeezing between two defenders on the edge of the box and firing home. Isaac Dawdry was forced to make a good save after okey responded. Then Lloyd White found room on the left, cut inside and thumped the ball low and across goal to give tivvy a two nil lead. Harry Stoneman played well at the back to keep the lead into half time. The second half was different altogether as tivvy became complacent with thier lead which opened up the game. And okey were quick to take advantage and pull one back. Lloyd White then scored a good individual goal to put the score 3-1 to tivvy. Again though, okey were not backing down easily and after some good okey play and sloppy tivvy defending the lads found themselves level at 3-3. Joe Greenslade battled hard to get the lads back in the game,  and they finished the last few minutes the way we all know they can play, bagging two quick goals to ensure the win, the first of which was a Lloyd White header from a corner, securing his hat-trick and the second, tivvy's fifth came from Lucas White after a great 1-2 with his brother.  A good start, and finish, but a nervy middle part of the game.

Alphington Lions 3 v 2 Tiverton Town U9 Whites - Exeter Youth League - March 2010

This is one of those games tivvy will look back on as one they should have won. They started well, forcing several blocks and striking the crossbar. Then some lazy defending let through a player, his scuffed shot/cross hit his partner striker and ended up trickling over the line. Tivvy tried to get back in the game, but alphington defended well in numbers getting bodies in the way. Tivvy soon found themselves a shock  2-0 down, after the tivvy keeper's kick was unfortunate to hit his own defender awquardly and rebound back to the lions striker who banged the ball into the open goal. This was frustrating to watch from the side, but, a half time teamtalk and some forcefull play by tivvy, especially Joe Greenslade who seemed to be everywhere in the second half found themselves again creating chances. Tivvy finally pulled one back when Lloyd White created space for himself and fired into the corner. Tivvy pushed for an equliser, but the lions worked hard to keep their lead, finally it came in the form of Lucas White, strking well from outside the box. 2-2 and now all to play for, tivvy pushed for the win but just weren't linking up aswell as usual. Harry Stoneman on a couple occasions strolled through midfield with the ball from defence and unleashed great strikes, but both were denied. Joe Greenslades fortunate lobbing shot hit the underside of the crossbar and when bounced down and retreived by the keeper looked to have crossed the lin, but the lads were denied. Again, like the past couple weeks, tivvy failed to keep it tight to the end, and Dawdry was caught napping when a lions player hit a long shot home to make it 3-2 to the home side. Tivvy did try to fight back but there was no time and had to settle for the defeat. Another learning curve for the team.

Tiverton Town U9 Whites 3 v 0 Pinhoe Spartans - Exeter Youth League - March 2010

Top goalscorer LloydWhite was sharp early on to give tivvy the lead in this tough fixture, with a cool finish after turning well. Harry Stoneman and Lucas White had to be strong at the back as Pinhoe responded, and keeper Isaac Dawdry had to come off his line well to deny an equaliser. Tivvy piled on pressre as the half went on with Liam Gilbard playing well in centre midfield. Harry Butler provided good width on the left, showing once again his pace and crossing ability, and also causing problems for pinhoe at the back with his long throwing capability. LloydWhite  unlucky to pull two one on one shots just wide of the post and Lucas Whites long range effort flew high and wide. Tivvy kept the pressure up to the end of the half and were rewarded just before the half time whistle when Joe Greenslade, playing well on tivvy's right side of midfield, created space for himself at the far post from an excellent Harry Butler corner and finished well. The second half was much more contested with Pinhoe coming out strong, but tivvy held on to their two nil lead with 100% effort and determination. Reuben Buss played well at the back after coming on at the break. As the half went on, tired legs saw the game open up and both teams had chances denied from good defensive blocks. The result was rounded off nicely with a 3 nil win after a Harry Butler pass put Lloyd White through and he calmly slotted home. Well done lads, good performance and clean sheet.

Tiverton Town U9 Whites 2 v 2 Whipton Youth - Exeter Youth League - March 2010

This fixture had much promiss as these teams have met before, Tivvy beat whipton 3-2 last season in what was an excellent game,Tivvy then split into yellows/whites in the summer and the sides met again in a tournament, where whipton beat the newly built whites team and drew with the yellows. Whipton had just beat the yellows 2-0 while the whites played pinhoe, So this was a good match up and didn't dissapoint. From the whistle both teams contested well and both went out to win the game. From a spectators point of view it was fantastic, and from a managers-very tense! Tivvy had the better of the chances but didn't finish, Lloyd White and Harry Butler coming close. Isaac Dawdry made two good saves at the other end. But it was whipton who finished the half better when tivvy faild to close down a whipton midfielder on the edge of the box and he struck well into the bottom corner leaving the keeper with no chance. The lads came in at half time loosing, but were excellent at talking about the problems and taking advice on board showed great composure to go back into the game knowing they were capable of getting a result. Tivvy started the half well, ALL the lads were up for it and playing well. It was a super bit of play that led to the goal, Lucas White won the ball in the right back position and fed a long ball down the touchline to Lloyd White, Lloyd used trickery to get by two players, look up and pull a lovely ball back to Liam Gilbard who finished excellently under the keeper's body to get his team back in the game with his first goal after signing for tivvy in january. This boosted tivvy and they started to get a bit more of a foothold on the game, but had to be aware as whipton were fast on the break. Tivvy showed what they were about when they took the lead, a Harry Butler corner was cleared to the edge of the box, this was met by Lucas White who smacked a superb strike through the crowded box and into the top corner. Tivvy now 2-1 up had turned this game around with great spirit. However, whipton never give up and tivvy should have been prepared at the back, but weren't, the defence line were caught sleeping which led to a whipton attack late on, and with support in numbers, the inevitable happened and a whipto player found space to shoot and finished well to end the game 2-2. An excellent game to watch, Tivvy playing fantastic football to turn the game around but need to switch on right to the final whistle when up against strong opposition. Well done lads, a super game.

Man of the match on the day went to the hard working Liam Gilbard

Tiverton Town U9 Whites 4 v 1 Culm - Exeter Youth League - March 2010

Tivvy whites were looking forward to the prospect of becoming league leaders if they win todays two games, so were eager to get goin. However, the lads didn't start too well, and the first couple minutes saw culm pushing forward, Isaac Dawdry had to come off his line once to clear before the striker got thier. A minute later, the culm striker found himself in space and hit a long drive over Isaac and straight into the top corner. This was exactly what the whites needed to shock them into action, and they started to produce the quality football we all know they can play, and it wasn't long before Lloyd white got through on goal, his shot was saved but Harry Butler was there to fire in the rebound and put the scores back level. The first half was well thought from there on, tivvy had several corners after plenty of pressure, but couldn't find the net and culm were still a threat going forward. Isaac Dawdry was forced to come off his line again and Harry Stoneman made an excellent sliding block when the striker looked to be through. Tivvy finished the half the strongest with Liam Gilbard forcing the culm keeper to make a fine save. Tivvy increased their game in the second half with an awesome display of passing, combined with fast attacks. The lads were in control, knocking the ball round the park with real confidence. Culm's only real chance with a nice one-two was saved by Isaac Dawdry and from there on Reuben Buss was solid at the back and didn't let anything through. Tivvy took the lead soon after when Lloyd White found space in a crowded box, shifted the ball to his right and side footed home. Constant corners with superb deliveries from Harry Butler was frustrating to watch as tivvy just couldn't find the net, Lloyd White coming close, heading just over. Lucas White pushed forward as the pressure continued and it was a lovely pass from him through to his brother which set up goal number three, Lloyd turned with an awesome first touch to go between two defenders, probably the best turn i've seen from a boy so young, and he finished superbly with his next touch. Liam Gilbard and Joe Greenslade continued to work hard in midfield, feeding on scraps and setting up the attacks. Harry Butler made another super run down the left, this time pulling an early ball square to Lloyd White just inside the box, who showed his quality quick feet by controlling first time with his right then immediately striking with his left leaving the keeper grounded not expecting the early strike, another class finish. Tivvy passed the ball round lovely toward the end to keep the lead and take the 4-1 win. Well done lads.

Tiverton Town U9 Whites 6 v 2 Moors Youth -- Exeter Youth League - March 2010

Tivvy continued their good play into the next game and proved to strong for local moors team. Tivvy were ousing confidence in everyway on the pitch, there team play and passing was the best i've seen for a long time, and this was matched with excellent finishing quality's. Immediate pressure was resulting in saves from the moors keeper and constant corners again. This time the lads getting it right, a lovely left foot corner into the box from Harry Butler was met in a crowded box by Lloyd White with a calm side foot volley to take the lead. All the lads were playing awesome football, and playing with strength and determination when not in possession to win the ball back. Tivvy were aiming to kill off the game in the first half and that they did with a further two goals coming from Harry Butler and a stonking unstoppable half volley from distance by Lucas White. Reuben Buss thwarted any attack with super tackling, making it look easy. Tivvy went 4 nil up when Lloyd White passed the last defender with pace and finished well before coming off for a deserved rest. Just before half time Harry Butler's shot from an awquard angle hit the bar, but the hard working Joe Greenslade reacted first to meet it at the far post and volley into the roof of the net. 5 nil up at half time, leaving me with nothing to say to the team apart from 'well done, your playing awesome, keep it up'. The beginning of the second half was much the same. Liam Gilbard again coming close this time with a tap in at the far post but the keeper denied by getting across well. A moors attack was collected well by Isaac Dawdry, and his early long kick to Lloyd White now playing in midfield set up the next goal, Lloyd cotrolled the kick well, then flicked a looping ball over the moors back line for Joe Greenslade to run onto and first time flick over the keeper with perfect weight to get his second, tivvy's 6th. This was a strong lead, which did make the lads become complacent and moors started to attack well towards the end. One attack and a late challenge resulted in a penalty for moors. But Isaac (penalty saver) Dawdry once again made an outstanding save, which has put him on 6 out of 7 penalties. This boosted moors and some hard work and pressure earnt them 2 consilation goals at the end. A little something tivvy can work on. However, a very proffesional display from the whites, prooving they are true quality and deserve to be sat up the top of the league. Well done team. I'm very proud. Man of the match today went to Reuben Buss for hard work and great tackling, showing he is a valid member of the team.

Tiverton Town U9 Whites 2 v 1 West Hill Wasps - Exeter Youth League February 2010

Due to the quality of our pitch, these were the only fixtures in our age group to be played after some rain during the week. This was a chance for the tivvy sides to play some of their games in hand and creep up the league. Tivvy whites started this game well and looked in control when taking an early lead through a Harry Butler left foot curler. Isaac Dawdry was forced to make a fantastic 1 on 1 save coming off his line to keep the lead. Tivvy defence line of Lucas White and Reuben Buss were solid thereafter and the midfield workers Liam Gilbard and Joe Greenslade kept the pressure on the west hill back line, forcing several corners in the half. The first half was rounded off nicely with a lovely back heel volley from Harry Butler finding the top corner after some great build up play from Lloyd White. Tivvy went in 2-0 up but could have been plenty more had they finished their chances. This was certainly a game of two halves, west hill coming out far stronger with belief they could get a result. Tivvy still carved out chances but failed to finish and when west hill pulled one back after some terrible marking, tivvy looked worried that the missed chances could come back to haunt them. Harry Stoneman came on to strenghten the back line. The last few minutes were well contested from both teams but tivvy edged it with a 2-1 win.

Tiverton Town U9 Whites 7 v 0 Cullompton Rangers - Exeter Youth League February 2010

After a tough talking to about marking and finishing quality the tivvy whites went into this game fully focussed and didn't dissapoint. Harry Butler got 2 early goals for the team, one of which was a thunderbolt strike. Unfortunately for cully, this was tivvy at their best and constant pressure only resulted in more goals. Lloyd White working hard up front and being the main creator of most tivvy chances. Joe Greenslade was next on the scorsheet with a side foot volley at the far post after a great cross from Lloyd White. Tivvy were strong all over the field not giving cully much chance to get forward, this gave defender Lucas White, who constantly looked in control on the ball, chance to push forward giving support in attack. Liam Gilbard worked tirelessly to break up play and get tivvy forwarded, leading to a further goal, this time being finished cooly by Lloyd White(rooney) to take his tally for the season to 24 goals and go in half time 4-0 up. Tivvy continued this awesome display into the second half. The ever hard working left winget Harry Butler scored early on again to bag his hat-trick and 20th of the season. And tivvy rounded off with two more goals, Joe Greenslade getting in at the far post to get his brace, and Lucas White striking well from outside the box to get a well deserved goal. All the lads were awesome and proved how well they can play. Isaac white again kept a clean sheet with a good performance. But man of the match on the day went to Harry Butler for hard work for the team matched with class finishing. Tivvy Whites are now second in the league with only 1 loss and 13 wins. Well done team

Dawlish 1 v 2 Tiverton Town U9 Whites - Exeter Youth League Cup December 2009

This was a much tougher game for the lads. The football play wasn't as good as it could be from either side as this seemed to be a more physical battle. Both teams worked extremely hard and cancelled each other out well. Tivvy chose to adapt to a 3 3 formation, closing down in packs and getting bodies behind the ball, then breaking with pace when a chance came. Midway through the first half a Tivvy corner was drilled in with pace by LUCAS WHITE, striking a Dawlish defender and ending in the goal. Dawlish responded well with an attack but was stopped by ISAAC DAWDRY flying off his line to slide and grab the ball from the strikers feet. The first half continued with plenty of strong tackles from both sets of players and was a brilliantly contested game. The second half was exactly the same, great to watch two sets of lads commit themselves totally to the cause of winning a football match. All tivvy lads were awesome and showed good stamina. They got their second to go 2-0 up when LUCAS WHITE was put through on goal forcing the keeper to make a fine same, but then getting their first to finish the rebound. Tivvy held onto their 2-0 lead for some time, with Dawlish striking the crossbar in the process. Dawlish pulled one back with a good finish but was only minutes from the end and Tivvy worked hard right up to the final whistle to ensure the win. A great strong gutsy performance against a good Dawlish side. Well done boys.

St Martins 0 v 2 Tiverton Town U9 Whites - Exeter Youth League Cup December 2009

Tivvy arrived at Dawlish just in time for these fixtures, so an un warm bunch of lads got into their positions and struggled to settle into their usual flowing football for the first 5 minutes or so. But as the game went on they plugged away and started to carve out chances. LLOYD WHITE looked sharp upfront and started to trouble the defence and get the best of the chances. JOE GREENSLADE worked very hard on the right of midfield alongside LUCAS WHITE also playing well. REUBEN BUSS returned in defence beside his partner HARRY STONEMAN and they were very solid and let very little through. Tivvy took the lead when LLOYD WHITE tried to pass 2 defenders down the left, he got slide tackled but was first to react to get up and just keep the ball in play and after doing so he fired it low and hard across the box where it struck a defender and ended up in the net. Tivvy were still getting worked at the back by a pacy st martins striker and ISAAC DAWDRY was forced to make a fine save before the break to keep the lead. They came out for the second half playing much better from the start and showed signs of some really nice passing ability matched with effort and hard working players. Tivvy forced several corners in the second half and they put a bit more pressure on in search of a second goal to try and seal the game. The goal did eventually come when LLOYD WHITE squared a lovely pass to JOE GREENSLADE on the edge of the box, LLOYD was taken down in the process but the advantage was played and GREENSLADE finished by drilling the ball across the keeper into the bottom corner. Tivvy held onto the lead to take a nice win.

Okehampton 1 v 1 Tiverton Town U9 Whites - Exeter Youth League Cup November 2009

Tivvy whites travelled to okehampton to try and book a place in the quarter finals of the league cup. The fixture had been called off due to bad weather last weekend, so both teams were glad to get going and although the bad weather arrived again straight after kick off, it didn't fase both sets of players, and they entertained with a cracking game of football in the heavy rain and howling wind. Tivvy started the better forcing several corners in the first 10 minutes but okehampton were resolute in defence and did cause problems at the back with quick breaks. LLOYD WHITE, JOE GREENSLADE and HARRY BUTLER all had close chances to take the lead. LUCAS WHITE worked continually in centre midfield trying to split the okey defence line. FREDDIE PARKER stepped in defence for an absent REUBEN BUSS alongside HARRY STONEMAN who was solid and showed great composure when in possession of the ball. In the second half tivvy pushed harder and eventually took the lead with a superb individual goal from LLOYD WHITE, using strength to take on two defenders down the left and fire into the far bottom corner. For a while tivvy looked to be holding onto their lead but a persistant okey side worked hard and about five minutes from time a nice pass put a player through 1 on 1 and he finished well. Tivvy drove forward again to try and get a winner, but in doing so created space in behind, HARRY STONEMAN made numerous tackles when okey tried to break but inevitably they got through and should of got the winner if it wasn't for a brave ISAAC DAWDRY flying off his line to take the ball and upend the striker and his own defender in the process, resulting in a face full of mud but importantly keeping the score level. The game ended 1-1 and went on into extra time. Two soaking wet sets of players battled out five minutes each way and niether could find the winning strike. At deadlock the match had to end with the dreaded penalty shoot out. Both managers picked their 3 spot takers and up first were okey, the striker hit a low drive to the right which ISAAC DAWDRY did fantastic to get across and save. LLOYD WHITE took the first spot kick for tivvy and thumped it into the top left hand corner to go 1-0 up. Okey scored their next although ISAAC DAWDRY got a hand to it and the okey keeper then saved LUCAS WHITES strike to put it 1-1 with only a penalty each left. And that boy again ISAAC DAWDRY made another save to give his team the edge. HARRY BUTLER was up for the next pen and cooly finished to take the win and go through to the quarters. HARRY STONEMAN got man of the match for persistant hard work. This was an awesome game for spectators to see, and it was worth the drenching everyone got. Thanks to okey for good hospitality and a cracking match.

Sidmouth Warriors 3 v 2 Tiverton Town U9 Whites - Exeter Youth League November 2009

A gap broke in the weather long enough so this difficult away fixture could go ahead and the lads were up for it from the start, pressing the sidmouth back line and creating some early chances on goal. All the lads worked extremely hard and were rewarded with a somewhat lucky goal when a deflected pass looped over the sidmouth keeper to give tivvy a well deserved lead. Sidmouth responded well and had close chances on their breaks, playing a counter attack style game and getting numbers behind the ball well when defending. Lloyd White came close twice and Joe Greenslade had a shot saved before sidmouth managed to grab an equaliser. Half time saw two teams eager to get back on the field and carry on in what was a very tense game. Joe Greenslade, Lucas White and Harry Butler worked hard in midfield to try and break the defence to feed Lloyd White up front. Harry Stoneman and Reuben Buss/Freddie Parker defended well making some good challenges, but were up against it with most decisions going in the oppositions favour. And it wasn't long before sidmouth took the lead with a good break down the right hand side. The whites showed their class though and upped their game again, creating opportunities before finally getting a great equaliser through Lucas White. Tivvy looked strong after that and pushed for the win looking like a draw atl east was on the cards, only for a shocking decision to give sidmouth a late corner when it clearly wasn't and panicked the lads. A low drive came in from sidmouth which struck a tivvy player on the heel and unfortunately ended in the tivvy net. Soon after that the final whistle blew and the lads came off feeling hard done by. Good performance though by all tivvy lads involved.

Sidmouth Raiders 1 v 3 Tiverton Town U9 Whites - Exeter Youth League November 2009

Tivvy Whites got their heads back up in the interval and were raring to go and let the football do the talking in their second game. They got going well and knocked the ball round nicely, Lucas White unluckily striking the bar early on. It wasn't long before the lads realised they were again up against it when a 50/50 challenge in their own area ended with sidmouth being rewarded with a penalty. After the arguing stopped the sidmouth striker struck the pen and Isaac Dawdry pulled off a fantastic save to keep the score level. Tivvy reacted well and again attacked with flowing attractive football, coming close twice. Only a couple minutes later though a sidmouth player went down in the box and again got the decision in their favour for a pen, but, again Isaac Dawdry showed great reactions to dive to his left and also save that penalty. This boosted the lads and they took the game by the scruff of the neck and soon took the lead before half time with a Harry Butler strike. Although sidmouth responded on the break with an equaliser, tivvy went straight back down the other end and Lloyd White scored an excellent individual goal to go 2-1 up before the break. Tivvy were awesome in the second half. Reuben Buss and Freddie Parker had good games. Lloyd and Lucas White were hard working pulling the strings. Joe Greenslade was tremendous up and down the right wing. And Harry Stoneman was solid throughout. And Isaac Dawdry again was called upon to make a couple good saves. The game was tied up though when a corner towards the penalty spot was met with a super volley from Harry Stoneman which nestled in the bottom corner. Tivvy worked to keep their lead right to the final whistle and were very proud winners after two hard faught games. Isaac(i saved 2 penalties)Dawdry was tivvy whites man of the match today. Well done lads.

Tiverton Town U9 Whites 4 v 1 West Hill Wasps - Exeter Youth League Cup October 2009

Tivvy lads were excited to be in their first ever league cup competition and were raring to get going. Although they didn't start as well as they know they can play they soon got their stride and pressured the opposition goal. West hill defended well, forcing several corners for tivvy. The enevitable eventually came when a good save from the keeper left the ball free in the box, where Harry Butler was first to react to calmly side foot home to take the lead. The lads upped their game with some nice passing play, the best being when Harry Butler's long cross found Joe Greenslade who hit a right foot volley first time only to strike the bar, Lloyd White reacted well with a header but that also hit the bar and bounced down on the line before being cleared. Tivvy got their second though soon after when a long range effort from Lucas White deflected over the stranded keeper and dipped under the bar. Although the game looked to be heading in one direction, west hill did cause problems for tivvy when they broke forcing tivvy keeper Isaac Dawdry to make two very good saves to keep tivvy 2-0 up at the half time whistle. The second half was well contested with tivvy coming out on top. A few early efforts whistled wide before Joe Greenslade's powerful low drive found the back of the net. Lloyd White had a one on one with the keeper saved but got his goal when he turned well from a good Harry Stoneman throw and hit it on the volley low in the bottom corner to make it 4-0. Reuben Buss, Freddie Parker and Harry Stoneman worked hard in the second half to keep west hill at bay. Isaac Dawdry still had to make a number of saves though in this half and came off his line well to sweep up loose balls and showed good kicking to earn himself man of the match. West hill got a good consolation goal before the final whistle with a cracking free kick. Another good game with the lads playing well to get into the second round of the cup.

Twyford Barca 0 v 14 Tiverton Town U9 Whites - Exeter Youth League September 2009

Tivvy whites first opponents in this local derby were twyford barca, who in recent weeks have failed to even get themselves on the scoresheet. But tivvy still new they had a job to do, and they approached the game like any other. They got involved straight from the whistle and it wasn't long before they took the lead with a good low drive from Lucas White. The rest of the first half was fairly scrappy with the tivvy lads not sticking to their passing game, but they were rewarded with two more good strikes from Harry Butler and Lucas White to go into the break three nil up. After a discussion at half time the lads went out and played the second half the way we all know they can, moving the ball quickly and constantly looking for players in space. This opened the game up and and the lads showed their finishing qualities bagging eleven more goals. Lucas White scored another brace. Harry Butler added four more to his first half strike and Lloyd White and Harry Stoneman both scored two each after having fantastic halves. Joseph Greenslade worked hard and forced an own goal with a telling cross. Reuben Buss and Freddie Parker both had good games and Isaac Dawdry playing in goal was somewhat bored but showed great ability to save barca's only real chance of the game. A solid performance to lead the lads confident into their second game.

Twyford Madrid 1 v 6 Tiverton Town U9 Whites - Exeter Youth League September 2009

Tivvy whites have proven themselves in recent weeks as a top team in the exeter youth league, but were dying to prove themselves against strong opposition, and the idea of playing an unbeaten well organised twyford madrid team in a much anticipated derby excited the lads to the core. Hearing that their fellow team mates tivvy yellows had just had a fantastic match up with madrid which ended 0-0 the whole team couldn't wait to get going. As soon as the whistle went there was a stampede of white shirts trying to get an early lead knowing it would rattle the opponents. Looking sharpest first was Lloyd White who shot wide, hounded the defence with runs and eventually pulled a lovely pass square to his brother Lucas White who fired home. Now with confidence in abundance tivvy pushed and soon after Harry Butler hit a sweet left foot shot tight in the bottom corner leaving the keeper with no chance. And only minutes later it was that boy Harry Butler again who hit another stonkin left foot strike into the same corner to go three up. Twyford responded well and started to show signs of breaking but were quite often denied by Harry Stoneman and Reuben Buss who were a solid partnership at the back. Greenslade worked continually all half and set a lovely pass late on for Lloyd White to finish with ease. Tivvy were now flying at four nil but twyford were not to be outdone and got a goal before the break to set up a tense second half. The second half was much the same with tivvy being the better of the two sides, passing well and creating chances. Isaac Dawdry was still forced to make saves and showed good kicking too. Tivvy eventually put the game beyond reach when a corner fell to Harry Stoneman who fired in to make it five one. Freddie Parker came on and slotted in defence well making good tackles. Both teams still battled and worked hard all the way to the end where tivvy sealed a cracking result on the break when Joseph Greenslade made a great run, pulled the ball back for Lucas White who slotted home. Tivvy white's were awesome throughout and deserved their win, well done lads.

Tiverton Town U9 Whites 5 v 0 Honiton Sharks - Exeter Youth League September 2009

Tivvy were very professional in this game and meant buisiness from the first whistle. LLOYD WHITE was first on the scoresheet with a calm finish and soon after became the provider for BUTLER'S tap in after taking on two down the left and pulling a lovely ball across goal. LLOYD WHITE and brother LUCAS WHITE were both unlucky to strike the post. BUSS and PARKER were strong at the back and well organised. DAWDRY playing between the sticks was forced to make a good save with honiton's only real chance of the half, this led to a tivvy speedy break which finished with a good goal hit into the bottom corner by GREENSLADE.

After the break tivvy continued their good form and it was LLOYD WHITE again who made it 4-0 with a powerful hit from outside the box. BUTLER continued to work hard alongside LUCAS WHITE who was controlling the game from centre midfield, he did everything but score, striking the post and not long after, the bar, with a thunderous free-kick. Just before time LLOYD WHITE had a shot saved and GREENSLADE fired in the rebound to make it 5-0. A good clean sheeted performance.

Tiverton Town U9 Whites 5 v 0 Seaton Town - Exeter Youth League September 2009

Tivvy's second opponents were a strong well organised seaton side who took alot of hard work to break down, DAWDRY was forced to make a fantastic save right from kick off. But once tivvy broke the deadlock they didn't look back, it took a great strike from distance by BUTLER to take the lead. LLYOD WHITE then had a shot saved, BUTLER was there again though to finish the rebound. Seaton came back strong but BUSS and PARKER made some cracking tackles. GREENSLADE hit a couple shots wide but soon set up LLOYD WHITE who flicked the ball nicely over the stranded keeper to make it 3 before half time.

Seaton again started strong but were denied twice by DAWDRY. But there hopes of a comeback were shattered when GREENSLADE put in a telling cross which a seaton defender put in his own net, 4-0 tivvy. And soon after BUTLER went through on goal, had his first shot saved but finished the rebound for his hat-trick and tivvy's 5th. LUCAS WHITE was again pulling the strings in midfield with a stunning performance of passing ability and hard work to earn himself tivvy whites man of the match on the day. All tivvy lads worked hard for this win and was well deserved.

Tiverton Town U9 Whites 5 v 1 Beacon Knights Exeter Youth League September 2009

Tivvy whites were raring to get their first season started and they got off to a flyer. From kick off they looked on form and started knocking the ball round nicely creating some nice early chances. LLOYD WHITE come close twice after some nice build up play by midfielders GREENSLADE, LUCAS WHITE and BUTLER but was denied by some fine saves. Soon after the deadlock was broke when beacon failed to clear the ball and LLOYD WHITE picked it up and fire it past the keeper with ease. Beacon tried to respond but STONEMAN and BUSS at the back were solid. LUCAS WHITE worked hard in the centre of midfield to keep the tivvy pressure on, and it was LLYOD WHITE who came close again after an acrobatic volley flew inches wide. A few minutes later a corner from BUTLER was met with a cool side foot vollley at the far post from GREENSLADE which appeared to go over the line only to be denied. Hard working BUTLER broke into space with the ball before the break and although he had space ahead to run into he chose not to, instead unleashing an awesome strike from over 20 yrds bulging the back of the net.. PARKER came on for STONEMAN in the second half and settled into defence well, making some good tackles. GREENSLADE was the provider of the next chance when he took on two down the right wing, running to the byline and pulling a nice pass back to BUTLER which he pulled wide. Beacon pressured back again forcing a couple good saves from DAWDRY, one where he got down well at the near post. The resulting corner ended in a goal after a cheeky back heel from the striker found its way into the back of the net. Tivvy reacted well to this and soon went 3-1 up when LUCAS WHITE put BUTLER through with a lovely pass which he finished with ease. Soon after BUTLER became the provider when he lobbed a nice pass over the defence to LLOYD WHITE who made it look easy when he flicked it past the oncoming keeper. BUSS made some great tackles midway through the second half when beacon kept attempting to break. And the same was happening the other end every time GREENSLADE tried to get himself on the scoresheet. A good all round performance was nicely rounded off before time when DAWDRY hit a long place kick over the halfway line where LUCAS WHITE used great awareness and skill to flick the ball with one touch, over the defence for his brother LLOYD WHITE to run onto leaving only the keeper to beat for his hat-trick, tivvy's 5th.

Tiverton Town U9 Whites 8 v 0 Pinhoe Sharks Exeter Youth League September 2009

Tivvy continued their good form into this game with all the lads firing on all cylinders, moving the ball quickly round the field to feed striker LLOYD WHITE, who didn't dissapoint as he managed to finish his first two chances in a matter of minutes. GREENSLADE and BUTLER had tremendous halves, creating many chances but were unlucky not to score. LUCAS WHITE was again in total control in the middle, winning everything to get tivvy pushing forward. Just before half time, LLOYD WHITE hit his third goal of the game, a nice finish from outside the box driven into the bottom corner. The second half took much of the same shape with LLOYD WHITE again finishing two chances, one an individual move the other after a great one two with STONEMAN to make it 5 goals for him and 5-0 to tivvy. DAWDRY played out of goal in this half and was strong in midfield, he managed to carve out a shooting chance which he struck well only to be denied by the post. PARKER played in goal this half and his awareness to be first to nthrough balls was good. STONEMAN and BUSS also had good games. Continued tivvy pressure had pinhoe pinned back in their half and LUCAS WHITE made it 6-0 after looking surrounded in a crowded box but found room to poke the ball across into the bottom corner. The match only looked to be heading one way and LLOYD WHITE took full advantage getting himself on the scoresheet again with a calm side foot finish to score his second hat-trick of the match, third on the day. GREENSLADE was determind to score but was denied by a great block this time but BUTLER was there to finish the rebound. Great game, well deserved win.

Tiverton Town at Wembley August 2009

The Tiverton Town U9’s trip to Wembley was an absolutely brilliant day. The team were up before dawn for the 5.30am start and very excited. We arrived at Northwick Park for the first part of the day where the team played three matches against U10 teams from all over the country. The boys played the best football that they have played to date. The passing and movement of the Tivvy team certainly surprised the older opposition and their coaches who commented on the effective and attractive football being played by our boys. At Northwick Park the team got the chance to have their photograph taken with the Community Shield and play on the football based inflatable activities provided by McDonalds.

The second part of the day was based in Wembley Stadium. For the most of the boys, and indeed their parents, it was the first time they had seen the stadium. The team then got to walk through the players entrance into the stadium and then through the players tunnel onto the pitch side. Inside the stadium the team were invited to the front of the photograph with Sir Geoff Hurst MBE and Trevor Brooking. The team was then selected to play another U10 side from the northern half of the country. The Tivvy ‘yellows’ began the game and played the most attractive passing football that they have ever played. Unusually for the yellows who normally have to warm up in a game they played well straight from the whistle by passing the ball with great confidence all around the pitch making the other team chase shadows. Their football was rewarded with a much deserved goal after about four minutes when Luke Scampton hit a long shot that the goalkeeper could not keep out. They were unlucky not to increase their lead before half time with shots from Toby Hide, Brad Messenger and James Hamlin being kept out by the desperate defence. Both teams changed their entire line-up at half time with Tivvy replacing the ‘yellows’ with an eager ‘whites’ team. The ‘whites’ began where the ‘yellows’ left off by playing some lovely football. By keeping the ball well and attacking with great pace Tivvy increased their lead through Lloyd White who toe poked the ball past the opposing goalkeeper following a great save from Joe Greenslade’s shot. Lloyd White celebrated on the hallowed turf with a cartwheel. Tivvy maintained the pressure with Harry Stoneman and Lucas White forcing a excellent saves from the goalkeeper. When the opposition attacked Tivvy defended well with Harry Butler tracking back from midfield and Harry Stoneman and Reuben Buss solid in defence. A fantastic performance from all the Tivvy Town players resulting in a well deserved 2 - 0 win.
