Tiverton U16s 0 v 2 Torridgeside - North Devon League - March - 2010

After booking our place in the County Cup Final on Friday night, it was back to the league where we welcomed Torridgeside in a top of the table clash at Ladysmead. With a few players carrying knocks and a few players feeling under the weather, I changed the formation to a 3-4-3. The game started slowly, with visible signs that some of the young yellows were tired and had heavy legs. The first half saw both teams not really playing creative, eye catching football but there were some chances created, the majority from Tivvy. With a few chances from corners and few chances created in open play, the yellows came closest when Grant Milton hit the bar from around 25 yards out. Torridgeside looked dangerous on the counter attack with a few half chances but nothing that football fans would say was a clear cut chance. With the score at 0-0 going into half time, it was fair to say the half of football that was produced looked very very average. I then changed the formation back to the 4-4-2 our boys are used to. However, it was Torridgeside who came out the brighter and pinned the yellows back in our own half. With some sloppy decision making from the Tivvy back line, Torridgeside opened the scoring. Shortly after they hit us on the counter attack to double their lead. Tivvy then picked up their game to create some decent chances but it wasn't to be and credit must go to Torridgeside who deserved the 3 points. This will hopefully act as a wake up call to the boys and kick them back into good habbits whilst the league is still in our hands. Man of the Match went to Robbie Powell who made 2 very good saves to keep the score down at 2-0.
